A lot of people when they think of earning money they think of getting jobs. Yes it could help and is a #1 solution but what if you’re too young to get a job? You don’t have many options. Here are a few job ideas for younger kids (10+) that might inspire your career later in life.
- Pet Care
This could be walking your dog as a chore for allowance to working at a pet store. You could also ask your neighbors (if they have pets) if they would ever need to be taken care of. In order to convince them you would be good at always act (be) nice and you would cost less than an actual pet babysitter. This would help you and the pet owners!
- Seasonal Tasks
Spring: Gardening, Debris Pick Up (after storms), Lawn Mowing and House Washing are just some ideas for jobs in the Spring
Summer: Watering Plants/Gardens, Bird Helping (cleaning the Bird Baths and re-filling Bird Feeders), Pet Sitting/Walking, Drink Stands (lemonade, gatorade, juice and water) are some of the tasks you could do to earn money in the Summer.
Fall: Leaf Raking/Bagging, Gutter Cleaning, Storing Outdoor Furniture back inside and Fire Wood Collecting are some ways for kids to earn money in the Fall.
Winter: Snow Shoveling, Salt/Sand Spreading, Holiday Decorating/Taking Down and Deep Cleaning are useful jobs in the Winter.
- Babysitting
Babysitting is an easy job where you watch kids and make sure they are fed and being kept well. This job is recommended for older kids (more respect/trust from adults) because older kids have more maturity to sense distress in younger kids. Kids with siblings should do it because experience helps the process.
- Tutoring
Tutoring is only if you’re smart and work well with others. Tutoring can help you and can be used in future college applications. Tutoring helps you remember early simple building block equations and will help you develop empathy for others.
Pro Tip: Doing jobs in high touristic/ public spaces should help you find customers.
