The FIRE movement stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early. The idea is basically when you save and invest enough money to either retire early or choose work because you enjoy it. The FIRE movement is when you have enough money already in the bank you can retire early and not have to work.

Most people make an estimate on how much they spend a year then multiply that by however many years they plan on being retired. Remember all of this is estimated not exact. A lot of people also don’t spend a lot of money.

They start really young and instead of spending all of their money on parties they instead save it. That’s one way most people save money and become part of the FIRE movement.

How can I join the FIRE movement?

Anyone can join the FIRE movement at any age. You could (hypothetically) join the FIRE at 15 or at 60. Here are 4 ways to join the FIRE movement.

  • Be a High Saver

This means that if (for example) you earn $60,000 a year, you would live off of $35,000 and save $25,000 a year.

  • Increase your income

This could be asking for a raise, learn skills that could help you pay better, get a higher pay career and start a side buisness.

  • Invest Constantly

Invest $300-$500 a year and keep doing that for 20-30 years. This will help you have enough money to retire earlier.

  • Reduce Major Expenses

Yes, I know everybody loves coffee. But people spend a lot on their daily coffee’s without realizing it. Getting rid of coffee, buying a reasonable priced home and avoiding unnecessary debt will help.
