A lot of people overspend on many things and wonder why they have so little money. It’s because they’re overspending. There are many easy simple ways to stop overspending but most people don’t know them and don’t do them. Here is a list on some ways you can stop overspending.
How to stop overspending (easy tasks)
- Pause for a minute. Before buying something pause for a minute. Ask yourself if you actually want it and will use it. If not, then don’t buy it.
- When you want to go out to the movies for example. Have a small budget of cash in your wallet and only get snacks based on how much cash is in your wallet.
- When you’re online shopping be sure to close the tab when you’re done so you don’t feel entitled to spend money on your purchase or any future purchases.
- Instead of buying an item, put it on a wish list so you can buy it later (if you still want it) or others can buy it for you during holidays or birthdays.
- Set a goal for yourself. Pick something you really want and save up for it. Once you have a goal you don’t feel the need to spend on other things.
- Remove saved cards. Delete your card info from shopping sites. Adding it back takes 20 seconds, but that friction stops impulse buys.
- When shopping and planning to buy something, quickly “scan” your house and try to remember if you have anything that is close or exactly alike what you are buying.
