A lot of people mix up wants and needs. You see other people with an item and feel like it is a need. There is a very big difference between Needs and Wants.

  1. What are Needs?

Needs are things that you absolutely need. That doesn’t mean the new best phone or the newest pair of jeans. This means the necessities of life. Food, water and housing are a few to show examples. Needs are things you need to live and use to help yourself and your environment (where you live).

  1. What are Wants?

Wants are what you want. It could be fidgets, clothes, trending items or even occasional trips to dinner. Wants should not be a priority if you are going to save. People who have wants as priority #1 on their list end up broke or living in poverty. No one wants that.

While I’m not saying you should never want something you should have a healthy relationship with wants. Wants should balance out Needs and Wants should be there for when you need a break or want to try something else. Needs should always be first though.
